The incoming trucks dump their load into the storage bunker. About 600 tonnes of waste are unloaded into here each day. In total, about 5,000 tonnes of waste can be stored in the bunker.
The large items of refuse in the bunker are first ground into small pieces in the rotary cutter - a sort of giant coffee-grinder. After that, the waste is mixed by the grabber crane, so that easily combustible and harder to burn components are blended together. A homogeneous mix is necessary for optimal incineration.
From the control room, our employees operate cranes with grabs, lifting about one and a half tonnes every time. They unload the waste through chutes into the incinerators.
